Campervans and motorhomes provide the perfect getaway option for couples or families to enjoy an impromptu break. But what makes a good campervan site? Read on as we discuss 5 reasons why we think that we’re one of the best campervan sites near Weston-super-Mare.

Fantastic Facilities
Onboard facilities are one of the main attractions of owning a campervan versus camping. However, with limited space on board, very few campervans have both a fully functioning kitchen and bathroom, which is why it’s important to choose a campervan site with fantastic facilities. And our campervan site near Weston-super-Mare has some fantastic facilities!

Situated beside the camping field, our brand-new utilities block has been purpose built for the demands of modern camping with toilet, shower and washroom facilities, plus an area for washing dishes and an outside tap.

And if you tire of preparing and cooking your own food, our onsite bar and restaurant offers fantastic value, plus a takeaway service.

Great Pitches
Exactly what makes a great campervan pitch is up for debate, but one thing that we can all agree on is space.

For fire safety reasons, UK campsites generally allow for at least 6m. Here at Riverside Holiday Village, our camping and campervan pitches are a whopping 7m x 10m, allowing plenty of room for an awning, table and chairs or BBQ.

The majority of our pitches provide electric hook-up for all of your onboard appliances, and wireless internet access is also available.

Good Transport Links
Campervans are great for last-minute getaways, but they’re less well designed for manoeuvring into tight parking spots, and packing up all of your stuff every time you leave the campsite can be a pain.

So, if you’re planning on taking day-trips into Weston-super-Mare during your visit, you’ll be pleased to learn that local transport links are located right outside of our campsite. The number 20 bus provides a regular service to Weston-super-Mare, Uphill, Brean and Burnham-on-Sea.

The joy of any kind of camping is being able to throw open your door in the morning to beautiful scenery, and that’s exactly what you’ll get here at Riverside Holiday Village.

Our campervan site boasts a stunning riverside location, with picturesque views of the river Axe. Set within the beautiful Mendip Hills, we are surrounded by beautiful walking trails, and Bleadon Levels Nature Reserve is right on our doorstep, with 27 hectares of grassland and wetland habitats to explore.

"Good sized pitches, nice new, clean toilets/showers. A really good setup for a new campsite. Also, very picturesque, with easy access to the riverside alongside the Axe. Excellent choice of drinks in the bar, all quite fairly priced. Very friendly and helpful staff." (Pitchup)

"Immaculate facilities, friendly staff. Lots to do for the children. There's a bus stop just out the front that takes you into Weston and takes around 10 minutes. Lovely swimming pool." (Pitchup)

"The site was beautiful and not busy at all. Showers & toilet block was perfect and less than a minute stroll from where we were pitched. The swimming pool was fabulous for my children as were the two parks. A 7-minute drive got us to the beach in Weston super mare. Overall, it was a fabulous stay and we would definitely return." On another sunny morning this April, volunteers from Riverside Holiday Village, Edithmead Leisure and Park Homes, Fairways Holiday Park and New House Farm headed out on our third 2-mile 'litter pick' along Bridgwater Road in Weston-super-Mare. We managed to collect 14 sacks of litter, plus several broken road signs and a damaged car tyre! As usual, energy drink cans were by far the biggest offender, closely followed by discarded alcohol bottles and fast food takeaway wrappers. We even found a discarded wet floor sign! All waste was collected by our waste management partner, MJ Church. Now the biggest initiative of its kind in the UK, the Million Mile Clean is an annual event, mobilising 1,000,000 million volunteers to clean over 10,000,000 miles of UK landscape between 2021 - 2030. We would like to say a massive 'thank you' to all of our volunteers - we're planning another 'clean' this September - please keep a lookout for more updates about future events!
