2024 is the fourth consecutive year that we have made the decision to take the David Bellamy Blooming Marvellous Pledge for Nature, and we are proud to say that we have successfully completed the 'Wonderful Wetlands' Challenge!
Ponds, streams and other wetland areas are vital for wildlife. Adding and enhancing these types of habitat can bring wildlife flocking – and provide interest for visitors too. So, we are proud to reveal that, over the last 18 months, we have significantly increased the size of our fishing lake. We hope that this work will provide a more varied habitat in order to support larger and more diverse animal populations at Riverside Holiday Village near Weston-super-Mare.
Creating wetland habitats can actually be one of the most important things a park can do for wildlife, and this freshwater habitat is already attracting an abundance of wildlife including ducks, geese, swans, dragonflies and frogs. Reports of otters and kingfishers have also been reported in the area.
