Simple steps to modernise your Caravan or Holiday Home

Most static caravans come pre-styled and furnished, which can save on initial costs, but may not always match your individual taste or style. However, there are lots of things that you can do to modernise your caravan or holiday home – and it’s easier than you might think!

Here are our top 5 tips;
1. Update your seating
You have two options when it comes to updating your soft seating; re-upholstering or replacing.

Any good upholsterer should be able to remove and re-cover your fixed-seating with relative ease, and there are literally thousands of fabrics available to choose from. So, whether you’re looking for a subtle two-tone or a pink flamingo print, you will find something to suit your style! However, you should keep in mind that re-upholstering may not always be the cheapest option, with upholstery fabrics starting at around £20.00 per meter (plus labour).

Or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, why not remove your fixed-seating completely and replace it with free-standing sofas or armchairs. Re-invent your living space with maximum flexibility for the future!

2. Upgrade tatty flooring
In older caravans, or those that have been well-used, the flooring is often the area that starts to age first.

Replacing tired carpets with fresh lino or laminate flooring will instantly transform your interior. Or why not introduce a splash of colour with a new rug!

3. Replace your curtains with blinds
Most older static caravans come with curtains. For a more contemporary feel, why not replace them with blinds?

Made-to-measure blinds are easy to find online and will transform the look of your holiday home.
4. Refurbish your kitchen or bathroom
If you don’t have the budget for a brand-new kitchen or bathroom suite, replacing or painting cabinet doors is a great way to give your kitchen or bathroom a facelift without breaking the bank.

You can also immediately transform any space for very little cost by replacing tired tiles or splashbacks.

5. Re-cover your exterior
Over the years the exterior of your static caravan may begin to show signs of wear and tear, but this can quickly be transformed by covering the unit with vinyl cladding.

Not only will this give your holiday home a modern new look, it will help with insulation and weather proofing (please note, you will probably need permission from the park owner before you go ahead with this).

Additionally, each park was again awarded a Gold Award, placing them amongst the best sites in their star category. When visiting Four Star Parks, customers can expect an extremely high standard in all areas, with well-maintained facilities, very good customer care and additional facilites compared to lower rated establishments. David Tattersall, Group Manager of West Country Park Homes: "Consistency is so important in our industry and we're extremely proud to have achieved this level of award by such a high-brand Assessor for the second year running. On another sunny morning this April, volunteers from Riverside Holiday Village, Edithmead Leisure and Park Homes, Fairways Holiday Park and New House Farm headed out on our third 2-mile 'litter pick' along Bridgwater Road in Weston-super-Mare. We managed to collect 14 sacks of litter, plus several broken road signs and a damaged car tyre! As usual, energy drink cans were by far the biggest offender, closely followed by discarded alcohol bottles and fast food takeaway wrappers. We even found a discarded wet floor sign! All waste was collected by our waste management partner, MJ Church. Now the biggest initiative of its kind in the UK, the Million Mile Clean is an annual event, mobilising 1,000,000 million volunteers to clean over 10,000,000 miles of UK landscape between 2021 - 2030. We would like to say a massive 'thank you' to all of our volunteers - we're planning another 'clean' this September - please keep a lookout for more updates about future events!
