One of our younger visitors here at Riverside Holiday Village is kindly organising a Charity Football Tournament in aid of Cancer Research UK.
‘Harry has a had a particularly tough year, losing two Uncle’s suddenly and learning of the illness affecting a member of staff here at Riverside, he wanted to do something to raise some money help the Doctors “make sick people better”.
Following the success of the Charity Cricket Match held at the Park a few weeks ago, Harry approached Riverside’s Park Manager with the idea of hosting a football tournament. He put together a format and presented it to Charlotte in a meeting outlining details and proposals for a refreshment bar and BBQ for supporters and participants – even designing each team’s kits!
Since organising the event, his Nan has been diagnosed with Lung Cancer, which given the years previous events makes the tournament all the more pertinent. He has been so strong and brave throughout, a real inspiration to us all.
Harry has always been kind-hearted and even donates his pocket money to adopting animals with the World Wildlife Fund and supporting various Charities whenever possible. He also took part in the West Country Park Walk for Charity earlier in the year, running to another site to help raise money. He is an avid follower of football and collects football kits of all teams across the world owning somewhere in the region of 20 different kits which he proudly wears all year round!’
The tournament will take place on Saturday 25th August from 11am at Riverside Holiday Village in Bleadon.
Teams must include 6 players (age 10 years +) and there will be a £12 entry fee per team. We will also be providing a summer BBQ and refreshments. All proceeds will be split between Cancer Research UK and our nominated charities.
Sign-up forms will be available at all Park Receptions. Please contact Riverside Holiday Village for more information on 01934 812342 or email [email protected]
